Barcelona left Rams Park with a commanding 4-1 victory over Galatasaray in Round 2 of the Champions League League Stage, turning a competitive first half into a clear away win. The hosts struck first through Aleksey Batrakov, but João Cancelo levelled before the break. Barcelona then took complete control of the scoreline early in the second half through Fermín López, Anthony Gordon and substitute Karim Adeyemi.
The final margin was backed by the overall numbers. Barcelona had 71% possession, completed 625 of 689 passes, and produced 22 shots to Galatasaray’s five. Their attacking pressure was also reflected in 37 dangerous attacks, nine big chances created and 11 shots on target.
Galatasaray make the early breakthrough
Galatasaray began with the first goal of the evening. Batrakov scored with a right-footed finish in the 28th minute, with Rafael Leão credited with the assist. It gave the home side a 1-0 lead and Batrakov finished as Galatasaray’s highest-rated player among the starters, with a 7.04 rating.
There was another notable Galatasaray moment eight minutes later when a goal involving Barış Alper Yılmaz was disallowed following a VAR decision. The score therefore remained 1-0 until Barcelona found their response shortly before the interval.
Cancelo brought Barcelona level in the 43rd minute, converting with his right foot after Dani Olmo’s assist. The equaliser ensured the sides went into half-time at 1-1, despite Barcelona’s eventual statistical superiority across the match.
A defining opening to the second half
Barcelona’s decisive push arrived immediately after the restart. Fermín López headed the visitors ahead in the 50th minute, assisted by Lamine Yamal. Three minutes later, Yamal was again the provider as Anthony Gordon scored with his right foot to make it 3-1.
Those two goals transformed the match in the space of three minutes. Barcelona had trailed at 28 minutes, restored parity at 43, and established a two-goal advantage by the 53rd minute.
The visitors continued to add attacking contributions from the bench. Gabriel Jesus entered for Olmo in the 58th minute, while Adeyemi replaced Gordon a minute later. In the 65th minute, Jesus assisted Adeyemi, whose left-footed finish completed the scoring at 4-1.
Control in possession and chance creation
Barcelona’s output showed both volume and territorial control. They recorded 125 attacks compared with Galatasaray’s 64, and had 18 key passes to the home side’s five. Their 16 shots from inside the box contrasted with Galatasaray’s three, while the visitors also earned six corners to one.
Galatasaray goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır made six saves, compared with two by Barcelona’s Joan García. Barcelona also created nine big chances, although six were recorded as missed, illustrating that the 4-1 result came despite further opportunities not being converted.
Galatasaray were more direct in parts of their play, attempting 58 long passes to Barcelona’s 42, but Barcelona completed 26 successful long passes at 62%, against 19 at 33% for the hosts. The away side also won 45 duels to 34.
Yamal leads the individual ratings
Lamine Yamal was named Player of the Match with an 8.57 rating. He directly assisted Barcelona’s second and third goals, setting up Fermín López and Anthony Gordon during the crucial early second-half sequence.
Cancelo, scorer of the equaliser, returned a 7.77 rating, while Fermín López received 7.55. Dani Olmo contributed the assist for Cancelo’s goal before his 58th-minute substitution, and Gabriel Jesus supplied the final assist after coming on.
The result was settled without any Barcelona cards. Galatasaray received two yellow cards, shown to Rafael Leão in the 64th minute and Roland Sallai in the 86th. Barcelona’s four goals, four assists and sustained command of the ball gave the visitors a convincing finish to a match that had initially moved against them.
