Barcelona left Estadio La Cartuja de Sevilla with a 5-2 victory over Real Betis in La Liga’s ninth round, turning a one-goal half-time advantage into a commanding final margin. The visitors scored twice before the break and added three more in the second half, while Betis found the net once in each half.

A lively first half

Barcelona regained the lead four minutes before half-time. Rodri headed home from Fermín López’s assist to make it 2-1. Betis then had a Giovani Lo Celso goal disallowed by VAR in the 45th minute, leaving Barcelona ahead at the interval.
The decisive second-half sequence
Gabriel Jesus extended Barcelona’s lead in the 51st minute, converting with his right foot after Yamal’s assist. Betis answered quickly: Abde Ezzalzouli struck with his right foot in the 53rd minute from a Lo Celso assist to reduce the gap to 3-2.
The contest changed again a minute later when Facundo Bernal was sent off for violent conduct. Barcelona made the numerical advantage count on the scoreboard, with Eric García scoring in the 62nd minute from Pau Cubarsí’s assist. Dani Olmo then completed the scoring in the 81st minute, again assisted by Cubarsí.
Barcelona’s second-half changes also featured directly in the scoring. Eric García entered at half-time and scored at 62 minutes, while Olmo came on in the 62nd minute before adding the fifth 19 minutes later.
Yamal leads the way
Yamal was named Player of the Match with an 8.79 rating, the highest in the fixture. His contribution was decisive from the opening goal onwards: he scored Barcelona’s first, created Jesus’ third, and remained involved until being replaced in the 70th minute.
Rodri scored Barcelona’s second and posted an 8.26 rating, while Cubarsí supplied the assists for the final two goals and received an 8.03 rating. Olmo’s late goal came with a 7.68 rating after his appearance from the bench.
For Betis, Gómez’s first-half equaliser and Ezzalzouli’s second-half strike ensured there was a response on the scoresheet, but the hosts had to manage the final 36 minutes with 10 men. Álvaro Valles made five saves, while Barcelona goalkeeper Joan García made three.
The numbers behind the win
Barcelona created five big chances to Betis’ three and registered 15 key passes against six. They also won 41 duels, completed 12 successful dribbles and earned five corners. Betis recorded 31% possession, 324 passes and 22 dangerous attacks.
It was an emphatic away performance, built on a fast opening, a firm reply after Betis’ early equaliser, and three second-half goals that sealed the points.
